Trekking «Introduction to Lake Baikal»

You have to visit the wonderful place of Lake Baikal -  Holy Nose (Svyatoy Nos) Peninsula. To climb the highest point of the peninsula, overlooking the picturesque panorama of the Chivyrkuisky and Barguzinsky bays, as well as the dip in the hot springs of bay Snake (Zmeinyi).

Itinerary:
Day 1. Meeting in the city of Irkutsk at the station at 10 o'clock in the morning. Bus transfer to the village Listvyanka and visit the museum. Lunch in Listvyanka (tourists pay for their own). Return to Irkutsk and transfer to Sludyanka. Tents. Dinner.
Day 2. Breakfast. 18-km transfer by SUV to the beginning of the trail. 10-12 kilometers trekking to waterfalls on Podkomarnaya river. Lunch. Setting up the camp, then free time. Dinner.
The route passes along the mountain river Slyudyanka and interests of its unique channel and crystal clear water. Slyudyanka originates about 20 km away from Lake Baikal under peak Cherskogo and flows through a narrow valley, sandwiched Komarinsky and backbone. The upper part flows into the rocky, treeless shores, the bottom gradually wears the picturesque and wild vegetation. Stony river bed consists of a huge block of marble and granite.
Day 3. Breakfast. Climbing Peak Cherskogo and review of Lake of the Heart (4-5 hours). The descent from the mountain. Lunch. For those who want - excursion to waterfalls of river Podkomarnaya (3-4 hours). Dinner.
The peak is named in honor of John (Ivan) Dementievich Cherskogo - scientist geographer, who has made an enormous contribution to the study of Siberia. Heart Lake - mountain lake in the form of the heart is located under the peak. In sunny weather it is especially nice. Waterfalls of Podkomarnaya river - amazing beauty and structure of the cascade of waterfalls with crystal and clear water. In the past, there was a path to China, by which the carts are goes.
Day 4. Breakfast. Return to the village Slyudyanka. Lunch. Bath on a half of way (extra charge). Departure by car to Slyudyanka. Optional excursion to the private museum of minerals (fees apply). Dinner. Transfer by train to the city of Ulan-Ude (departures about twelve o'clock at night, arriving at six o'clock in the morning).
Day 5. Moving to the village of Ust-Barguzin. Lunch in the cafe (paid myself). Departure to Zabaikalsky National Park. Dinner, evening dating. Transfer takes about five hours.
Day 6. Breakfast and then climbing to the Holy Nose. Lunch near the creek. Sightseeing of the plateau and its environs. From the summit opens panoramic view of Chivyrkuisky and Barguzinsky Bay, as well as Ushkany Islands (seal rookery). Time to pass the route - 7-9 hours. (If you are unsure of your forces, you can stay on the shore of Lake Baikal and relax on the sandy beach).
The ascent takes place on a route called «Path of Trials» - this route is designed for 3 days. The trail starts from the shore of Lake Baikal and goes through the forest to the beginning of ascent. The last few hundred meters is difficult and come by stones of medium size (Kurums). The route goes along the creek. At the top there is no water and everyone must bear with them for 1,5 -2 liters from the place where the creek ends!
Day 7. Breakfast. Passage to the source of water (6-7 km.). An amazing view of the Barguzin bay. Lunch. From here you cN SEE neighborhoods with bird's-eye view. Ushkany island, colors of the sunset - all this is fascinating.

Day 10. After the breakfast trekking to the river Krestovaya (bay Snake). Here you can rest on a sand beach. After dinner - traditional evening campfire. If we go on a boat - day's rest.
Day 11.. After breakfast - trekking to the hot springs. You will visit 2of the 3 springs of Zabaikalsky National Park. After lunch - fishing (with fishing gear), swimming in the waters of the lake Baikal, sunbathing.

Day 14. Breakfast. Early passage to Monakhovo. Departure to Ust'-Barguzin and then to Ulan-Ude. Arriving late at night on Shaman Mountain (mountain peak - mountain Shaman, 839 meters). Overnight in tents.
Day 15. Breakfast. For those who want in the morning you can try your hand at rock climbing or climb on the «obo» (holy place), which is located at the top. Lunch. After lunch, visit to the center of Buddhism in Russia - Ivolginski temple. Completion of the program in 18-19 hours. Ivolginski temple was opened in 1945.
